Terms of Service

The rules for using the Clair API. Plain terms for a read-only data service: what it is, what you may build with it, and what it is explicitly not.

Last updated: 2026-08-01

01 / THE SERVICE

What Clair is

Clair provides read-only data APIs over prebuilt indexes of public information. Current products include keyword-first search over a cleaned news corpus and search over normalized job postings collected from public applicant-tracking systems.

Public API requests filter and read those indexes. They do not crawl a URL supplied by you, and no large language model generates, summarizes, or interprets responses in the request path.

Each API has its own documented scope, host, schema, coverage, and commercial plan. Access to one product does not include access to every Clair product.

Features, limits, endpoints, indexed sources, and availability may change. Unless a product page says otherwise, the service is offered as a preview.

02 / ACCESS

Access and keys

Clair APIs are distributed through separate RapidAPI listings. You obtain subscriptions, credentials, metering, and billing through RapidAPI, and your use of that marketplace is governed by RapidAPI's terms and privacy policy in addition to these terms.

Clair does not operate a separate customer account or billing dashboard and does not store your RapidAPI password or payment-card details.

You are responsible for keeping your API key secret and for calls made with it. The plan displayed on the applicable RapidAPI listing controls quotas, rate limits, overages, taxes, cancellation, and billing. Listing terms and prices may change.

03 / USE OF RESULTS

What you may build and what you may not do

Subject to these terms and the applicable plan, you may query the API and use individual results in your own internal workflows, analysis, and applications. Keep source attribution and publisher links wherever the context reasonably permits.

Redistribute, resell, or republish the corpus, in whole or in substantial part, as a competing dataset, feed, archive, or API.

Do not circumvent metering, share or pool keys to evade quotas, access the origin servers other than through RapidAPI, reverse engineer access controls, or attempt to extract the complete corpus through coordinated requests.

Do not use the service in violation of applicable law or source rights, or to facilitate unlawful discrimination, abusive surveillance, harassment, or harm.

Do not disrupt, overload, probe, or degrade the service or another user's access.

04 / THIRD-PARTY CONTENT

Publisher and source rights

News articles and job postings indexed by Clair are written and controlled by their publishers, employers, or source organizations. Clair does not own that source material and grants you no rights in it. Responses may contain metadata and bounded cleaned, extracted, or normalized source content as documented for each API.

You are responsible for your own use of that material, including any republication, and for complying with source terms and applicable copyright law. Clair makes no representation that any particular downstream use is permitted.

Clair does not verify the truth, completeness, legality, employer identity, or continuing availability of third-party material. Search relevance, derived fields, normalization, and freshness fields describe retrieval and processing state, not an endorsement or guarantee of the underlying record.

05 / INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Intellectual property

Clair retains all rights in the service, including the corpus as a compiled work, the software operating it, and the branding.

You retain any rights you have in query and filter inputs you submit. You authorize Clair and its infrastructure providers to process those inputs as needed to authenticate, secure, operate, and answer the request.

06 / NO ADVICE

Not financial, employment, or professional advice

Clair is an information retrieval tool. It is not an investment adviser, broker-dealer, recruiter, employment agency, or fiduciary, and nothing it returns is investment, financial, employment, legal, or tax advice.

Search results are not a recommendation, solicitation, or endorsement to buy, sell, or hold any security, asset, or strategy, and must not be presented to anyone as such. Clair returns records that match query and filter inputs; it expresses no view on them.

A job result is not an offer, guarantee of availability, assessment of an employer, or recommendation about a candidate. Do not use Clair as the sole basis for an employment, eligibility, credit, insurance, housing, or similarly consequential decision.

You are solely responsible for decisions you make. Verify material information at the original source and consult a qualified professional when appropriate.

07 / AVAILABILITY

Preview status and availability

Unless a product page says otherwise, Clair APIs are in preview. They may have bugs, downtime, gaps in coverage, or breaking changes, and no uptime or latency is guaranteed.

Coverage varies by product, source, and period. Clair does not warrant that any particular article, publisher, company, posting, or date range is present.

Freshness timestamps record Clair's collection state; they do not guarantee that a publisher has not changed or removed the source since the last check. Do not rely on the service as the sole source for time-sensitive, safety-critical, or consequential decisions.

08 / SUSPENSION

Suspension and termination

You may stop using a product at any time and can manage or cancel its subscription through the applicable RapidAPI listing, subject to RapidAPI's billing and refund rules.

Clair may suspend or terminate access that violates these terms, abuses the service, or threatens its integrity for other users, and may discontinue the service or any endpoint.

09 / DISCLAIMERS

Disclaimers & liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators and contributors of Clair are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, aggregate direct liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to USD 50 or the amount paid for the affected Clair product during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow particular warranty exclusions or liability limits. In those jurisdictions, these clauses apply only to the extent permitted by law.

10 / CHANGES

Changes to these terms

Clair may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always published here with the date it took effect.

Where reasonably practicable, material changes will be noted on this page before they take effect. Continued use of an affected product after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance.
