Amazon Search API
Amazon search results for a keyword, with Amazon's own filters.
Overview
What teams build with the Amazon Search API
Keyword rank tracking
See where your products and competitors' land for a search term, page by page, with sponsored placements flagged.
Market research
Pull the products, prices, ratings, and monthly sales badges for a niche before you enter it.
Price comparison
Compare the prices shown for a query across brands, conditions, and Prime eligibility, for one delivery location.
Official API restricted
Is there an official Amazon API?
Only for Amazon affiliates. Amazon deprecated the Product Advertising API 5.0 and moved affiliates to the Creators API, which is part of the Associates program.
Amazon's Product Advertising API 5.0 is deprecated: calls return 403 with a message to migrate to the Creators API. The Creators API is run by Amazon Associates for publishers, influencers, and affiliate partners, to show and link to products they earn commission on.
If you monitor prices, sellers, or reviews rather than sell as an affiliate, that program does not fit. Clair reads the product page a shopper sees for the delivery location you pass as zip_code, including the Buy Box seller, all other offers, and, outside amazon.com, reviews.

Code
Integrate in minutes
One host, one Bearer key for every Clair API. Each call returns JSON with the same envelope, so a second API is a new path, not a new client.
curl -G "https://api.clair.im/v1/amazon/search?q=wireless+mouse&prime=true&page=1" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

Pricing
Which filters can I use?
Amazon's own: price range, brand, Prime (US), 4 stars and up, condition, deals, a browse category, and sort order.
Are sponsored results included?
Yes, in the position Amazon shows them, with sponsored: true, so you can keep or drop them.
How many pages can I read?
Up to 10 results pages per query, one request each.
What does the Amazon Search API return?
q maps to Amazon's k parameter. category_id limits results to one browse node. Price, brand, Prime, rating, condition, and deal filters map to Amazon's own search refinements. Sponsored cards are kept and flagged with sponsored: true.
How is a request counted?
Each call is one request, and each extra page is a new call. A malformed request (400) is not counted, and a request that fails on our side (5xx) is refunded.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. The free tier is $1 of usage a month across every Clair API, with no card: about 86 Amazon Search API requests if it all goes here. It resets monthly, and calls stop when the balance runs out.
What happens when I use up my plan's balance?
The API returns 429 until the next period, on every plan, and nothing is billed past the balance. An upgrade starts a new month at once, and the unused balance carries over.
Does my plan cover other Clair APIs?
Yes. One plan and one key cover every Clair API, and every call spends from the same monthly balance. Your first call starts the free tier.
