What Sponsored results means
Search engines, marketplaces, and maps sell placements in their result lists. On Amazon, sponsored products appear throughout search results; on Google Maps, sponsored places appear at the top. They are labelled, but they look like the organic listings around them.
For analysis they need handling: counting a sponsored listing as a rank inflates it, and removing them hides who is paying for visibility. The usual approach is to keep them with a flag.
Clair flags each Amazon search result and Google Maps result with sponsored, so you can keep them or filter them out.
