What Web scraping means
Web scraping loads a page as a browser would, then extracts values such as prices, titles, or reviews from its HTML or embedded data. It is how data gets out of websites that do not offer an API, or offer one with less data than the page.
The hard parts are not the extraction. Sites block automated traffic, render content with JavaScript, change their layout without notice, and show different content by location. A scraper that works today needs maintenance to work next month.
Clair runs that maintenance for specific sites: each API loads the live page, parses it into a fixed schema, and returns JSON, and a request that fails on Clair's side (a 5xx response) is refunded.
Subscribe to the API you need.
Each Clair API is its own monthly request quota. Unused requests expire. Every API has a free tier to try it.
