What Scraping API means
Scraping APIs come in two kinds. General ones take any URL and return the page's HTML, sometimes rendered in a browser; you still write the parser. Site-specific ones take a query, such as a search term or product id, and return parsed JSON in a fixed schema.
General APIs are flexible and cheap per page; site-specific ones save the parsing and its maintenance, and are priced per result. Which is cheaper overall depends on how many sites you need and how often their pages change.
Clair is site-specific: each API covers one source, such as Amazon or Glassdoor, with documented parameters and fields.

Each Clair API is its own monthly request quota. Unused requests expire. Every API has a free tier to try it.
