Licensed feeds only
Is there an official Crunchbase API?
Not self-serve. Crunchbase has stopped issuing Basic API keys, and its other API offerings are licensed through sales.
Crunchbase's documentation says it no longer offers the Basic API: existing holders can view their key but cannot generate a new one. API access is now part of Crunchbase's licensed data offerings.
Clair reads the public, signed-out organization or person page for a permalink. Fields Crunchbase hides from signed-out visitors, such as total funding and founding date, are left out and listed in locked_fields. There is no search: you need the permalink, such as stripe.
Read from these pages on September 28, 2026.

Code
Integrate in minutes
One host, one Bearer key for every Clair API. Each call returns JSON with the same envelope, so a second API is a new path, not a new client.
curl -G "https://api.clair.im/v1/crunchbase/organization?permalink=stripe" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

Is total funding included?
No. Crunchbase hides total funding, founding date, and last funding date from signed-out visitors, so they are listed in locked_fields instead. Round count, last round type, and the listed rounds are included.
What do I send?
The permalink from the profile URL: crunchbase.com/organization/stripe is stripe.
What does the Crunchbase Company API return?
permalink is the slug in /organization/{permalink}. Missing profiles return 404. Funding rounds, investors, similar companies, and news are the first cards on the logged-out page.
How is a request counted?
Each call is one request, and each extra page is a new call. A malformed request (400) is not counted, and a request that fails on our side (5xx) is refunded.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. The free tier is $1 of usage a month across every Clair API, with no card: about 173 Crunchbase Company API requests if it all goes here. It resets monthly, and calls stop when the balance runs out.
What happens when I use up my plan's balance?
The API returns 429 until the next period, on every plan, and nothing is billed past the balance. An upgrade starts a new month at once, and the unused balance carries over.
Does my plan cover other Clair APIs?
Yes. One plan and one key cover every Clair API, and every call spends from the same monthly balance. Your first call starts the free tier.
