Reuters API
List a reuters.com section or author, then fetch one article.
Overview
What teams build with the Reuters API
Market and policy monitoring
List Reuters sections such as world, business, or markets on a schedule and pull each new story in full.
Research corpora
Collect articles with bylines and dates for a topic or an author, for analysis or retrieval.
Newsroom tools
Track what a reporter or desk has published, and feed it to summaries or alerts.
Licensed feeds only
Is there an official Reuters API?
Only as a commercial license. Reuters news is sold to media and financial firms through Reuters Connect and LSEG news feeds, priced by contract.
Reuters content for developers comes through licensed products: Reuters Connect for media organizations and LSEG's news APIs for financial customers. Both are sold by contract, and neither has a self-serve developer tier.
Clair reads the public reuters.com pages instead. It is not a wire feed: it has no embargoed or subscriber-only content, and Reuters' own site search is blocked, so you list sections or authors rather than search by keyword.
Read from these pages on September 28, 2026.

Code
Integrate in minutes
One host, one Bearer key for every Clair API. Each call returns JSON with the same envelope, so a second API is a new path, not a new client.
curl -G "https://api.clair.im/v1/reuters/search?section=world" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
Reference
Query and response fields
section is a path such as world or business/finance. author is a reuters.com/authors/ slug. Send one, not both. A listing is one page, so there is no page or cursor.

sectionstring
- Path under reuters.com:
world(default),business,business/finance,markets,technology,sports, … Mutually exclusive withauthor. authorstring

Pricing
Can I search Reuters by keyword?
No. Reuters blocks its site search to automated visitors, so q returns 400 unsupported_parameter. List a section or an author, or find Reuters stories through the Google News API.
Is this the Reuters wire feed?
No. It is what reuters.com publishes publicly, one page per request. Wire and Terminal content is only available under a Reuters license.
What does an article response contain?
The headline, authors, publish time, section, tags, and body paragraphs of one reuters.com story, from the URL you pass.
What does the Reuters API return?
Two endpoints, one subscription. reuters.com blocks automated site search, so q returns 400 unsupported_parameter. List a section (world by default) or an author; a listing is one page. Article reads one reuters.com story. Not Reuters Terminal.
Which endpoints does a plan include?
All of them: Search, Article. Each call spends this API's rate from your plan's balance.
How is a request counted?
Each call is one request, and each extra page is a new call. A malformed request (400) is not counted, and a request that fails on our side (5xx) is refunded.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. The free tier is $1 of usage a month across every Clair API, with no card: about 303 Reuters API requests if it all goes here. It resets monthly, and calls stop when the balance runs out.
What happens when I use up my plan's balance?
The API returns 429 until the next period, on every plan, and nothing is billed past the balance. An upgrade starts a new month at once, and the unused balance carries over.
Does my plan cover other Clair APIs?
Yes. One plan and one key cover every Clair API, and every call spends from the same monthly balance. Your first call starts the free tier.
