Local pack

The map and short list of businesses Google shows on searches with local intent, such as "plumbers in Denver".

Definition

What Local pack means

When a query looks local, Google puts a map with a short list of businesses, usually three, near the top of the results. Each entry shows the business name, rating, review count, category, and address, pulled from Google Business Profiles.

For local businesses the pack often matters more than the organic ranking, so local SEO tools track which businesses appear in it for a keyword and location. The full list behind the pack is Google Maps.

Clair returns the pack from a Google Search page as local_results[] with name, rating, reviews, price, type, and address. For every business in an area, with phone numbers, websites, and coordinates, use the Google Maps API, which reads the Maps results list instead.
