A Google Maps contributor in Google's Local Guides programme, labelled as such beside their reviews.

What Local Guide means

Local Guides is Google Maps' programme for people who add reviews, ratings, photos, answers, and edits. Each contribution earns points, and points raise the contributor's level, from 1 to 10. The label Local Guide appears beside their name on reviews.

For anyone reading reviews in bulk, the label and the reviewer's review count separate regular contributors from one-off reviewers, a useful signal when a place suddenly gets many reviews from new accounts.

Clair's Google Maps place endpoint returns each review with local_guide, true or false, and author_reviews_count.
