Byline
What Byline means
A byline credits the reporters who wrote a story. Stories by several reporters list each of them, wire stories often credit the agency instead of a person, and reporters who contributed without writing are usually named at the end of the story.
Bylines make coverage measurable by person: which reporters cover a company, a topic, or a region, and how often. For media relations teams, that is the list of who to contact.
Clair's AP article endpoint returns authors with each name and, where the site links one, the author's page; the Google News API returns authors for each headline where Google shows them.
