AI-generated content label
The label TikTok shows on videos that contain realistic content made or edited with AI.
What AI-generated content label means
TikTok requires creators to label videos with realistic images, audio, or video made or significantly edited by AI, and shows the label on the video. It also applies the label itself to content made with its own AI effects and to uploads carrying Content Credentials, the C2PA metadata some AI tools attach.
For brands and researchers, the label separates AI-generated content in a set of videos, for example when measuring how much of a hashtag's content is synthetic. It depends on creators and metadata, so unlabelled AI content still exists.
Clair's TikTok API returns ai_generated for each video, true when TikTok labels it, with is_ad for paid ads.
