Verified Purchase
What Verified Purchase means
Amazon marks a review Verified Purchase when its records show the reviewer bought the item on Amazon and did not get it at a deep discount. Reviews without the label can still be honest: the reviewer may have bought the product elsewhere or received it as a gift. Reviews from Amazon's Vine programme, where invited reviewers get products free, carry their own label instead.
Shoppers and analysts use the label to weigh reviews. Comparing the rating of verified reviews with the rating of all reviews is a quick check for a product whose score rests on reviews Amazon cannot tie to a sale.
Clair's Amazon reviews endpoint returns verified_purchase as true or false on every review, read from the badge on the review itself, with the rating, date, reviewer country, and variant bought.
