What Pagination means

APIs and websites return long lists in pages. Page-number pagination asks for page 1, 2, 3; cursor pagination returns an opaque token with each page that fetches the next one, which stays correct when items are added while you read.

Every page is a separate request, so pagination sets the cost of reading a list. Many sites also cap how deep a signed-out visitor can go, whatever the total.

Clair documents pagination per endpoint. Most take page, a 1-based page number with a documented maximum, and list responses carry next_cursor: what to request next, which is the next page number on paged endpoints and null on the last page. Each page is one billed request.
